Bachelor of Social Sciences Major in Political Sciences and International Relations

1. Expected Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, students will be able to:

  • explain the major legal systems in the world, and the management in administration of the kingdom of Cambodia;
  • interpret and compare politics and international relations such as diplomatic relation, collaboration, integration and dispute resolution;
  • interpret political theories, national and international laws such as political science, political psychology, political parties, and national and international public laws;
  • demonstrate the nature of national and international relations in economic, political, cultural and social characteristics;
  • describe and analyze political events and social relation in Cambodia and in the world with past and contemporary situation;
  • explain the processes of organizing society and linking social connections such as developing public policies, passing law, demanding recognition and responsibilities of any parts of society related to economics, rights and freedoms, environment, health, culture, religion, offense and developments;
  • research, interpret and compare legal field such as legal commentaries, legal dissertation, case studies and intuitive legal disputes reflection;
  • apply real life practice through internships and conduct research at public and private establishment, NGOs, and communities;
  • use English language for academic purpose and communication at workplace and also utilize information technology for administrative affairs;
  • build self-confidence, courage, initiatives, creativities;
  • analyze, consider, and evaluate with argumentative reasons, good teamwork, leadership, good interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills to social and economic changes, professional ethics, high responsibilities, and knowledge of cross culture;
  • lead life-long learning, explore society issues and  build high commitment for contributing to sustainable development;
  • pursue postgraduate degree in political science and international relation.

 

2. Job opportunities

Graduates will be able to become a leader or an employee working for public institution, for  national and international NGOs , communities, and companies and political parties with the following positions such as head of institution, lawmaker, senator, government official, political advisor, ambassador, consul, secretary-general, municipal/provincial officer, senior public relation officer, lecturer, independent analyst, and other related relation work.

 

3. Program Information

This program, students are required to study for 4 academic years, which equals to 8 semesters. Each academic year is divided into two semesters, and each semester lasts 15 weeks, excluding the final examination. To complete this program, students must earn 120 credits with the minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) at least 2.00 including thesis writing and defense.

 

4. Admission Requirement

  • Candidates must possess high school diploma or equivalent certificates;
  • Candidates are required to pass the entrance exam which is set up by university and accredited by Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. In case those candidates fail any subjects of high school examination or candidates that have already possessed high school diploma before 2002 are required to pass the entrance exam for admission.
