a. Expected Outcome
Upon completion of the Basic English for University (BEU) Program, the students will be able to:
– demonstrate an ability to speak and listen in English very well;
– illustrate an understanding of the processes involved in writing sentences and compositions;
– apply basic English vocabulary and grammar in spoken and written communication;
– show an understanding of a variety of English written texts;
– pursue the Bachelor of Education in Teaching English Program at USEA;
– continue their studies in the International Program at USEA;
– use English for work in public/private institutions and NGOs.
b. Program Information
The Basic English for University (Formerly called Bridging Course) lasts one year, equal to 2 semesters and each semester lasts 15 weeks, excluding the final examination. To complete this program, the students need to earn 30 credits with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.00.
c. Admission
To be admitted to the Basic English for University Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
– be high school students of at least Grade 11 and
– take the USEA English Proficiency Test and pass with a pre-intermediate level.
